At its 50th edition in 2025, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte counts hundreds of artists involved every year, dozens and dozens of shows in Montepulciano and in the municipalities of Valdichiana Senese between concerts, opera, theater, dance and site specific events.
Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte was conceived in 1976 by M° Hans Werner Henze, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Cantiere is a workshop, an ensemble in which artists of all nationalities take part, in which successful professionals and young talents swap experiences and express their art, interacting without becoming too embalmed in their respective roles, and teachers work in close contact with students, transferring their experience directly and constantly. And the results is a series of concerts and performances, held during the second half of July – often for the very first time in Italy. An added value is given by the places, spaces and wealth of architecture of the old towns, and by the beauty of the landscape.
