Civic Museum of Montepulciano
Crociani Civic Museum and Picture Gallery
The Museo Civico Pinacoteca Crociani (Montepulciano Civic Museum and Crociani Picture Gallery) is in Via Ricci, not far from Piazza Grande. It is arranged into five sections: archaeology, Montepulciano, the Terracotte Robbiane exhibit, the Pinacoteca and the Studiolo.
The numerous exhibits on display are all beautiful. They include a “Saint Agnese Segni, holding a model of the town of Montepulciano”, by Domenico Beccafumi, and a “Portrait of a gentleman” by Caravaggio. The Pinacoteca is enriched with a “Holy Family with the infant St. John” by Sodoma, and a “Madonna and child” by Signorelli.
The Terracotte Robbiane alone are worth a visit to the museum.
