This trail connects the outside of the medieval gate Porta delle Farine with the area of Piazza Santa Maria dei Servi and runs close to the house of Angelo Ambrogini\u2019s birth. The great humanist, poet and philologist, known as Poliziano (1454-1494), was born in Montepulciano and left as a teenager for Florence after the death of his father in 1465. In Florence, he lived at the court of Lorenzo the Magnificent, also tutoring his sons Piero and Giovanni (the latter later became Pope Leo X).<\/p>\n

The trail was built as part of the \u201cSupport Interventions for Tuscan Walled Towns and Fortifications\u201d pursuant to Tuscany Regional Law 8\/2021. It winds under the ancient walls of Montepulciano for just about 200 linear metres.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
