Trekking at the Montepulciano Lake on World Wetlands Day

On Sunday, February 2nd 2025, (World Wetlands Day), a 13 km trekking at the Lake Montepulciano Nature Reserve

On the occasion of the World Wetlands Day, recognized on February 2, in Montepulciano is scheduled a trekking to discover the lake and its sceneries. The volunteers of the Circolo Terra e Pace Valdichiana Legambiente will guide the participants in the initiative that takes place in collaboration with the Tuscan Ornithological Center and the Association Tre Berte, under the patronage of the Municipality of Montepulciano.

The day’s program begins with the meeting at Bar Tiziana (loc. Tre Berte) at 9:00 am and the departure from the Visitor Center of the Nature Reserve “La Casetta” at 9:30 am. The route is a flat loop route about 13 km long, low difficulty, which provides for return to the center at 12:30 am.
Comfortable clothing and trekking shoes are recommended.

“Enhance. Protect. Inspire.” is the slogan that characterizes this year’s World Wetlands Day, the event was established in 1997 with the aim of raising awareness about the value of these environments that play a fundamental role in the conservation of biodiversity on the planet. The date commemorates the signing of the International Convention of Rasmar, which took place on 2 February 1971 in the homonymous Iranian city, and represents the first truly global treaty concerning the conservation and management of natural ecosystems, whose integrity is strongly threatened by human activities.
