The Civic Archaeological Museum Pinacoteca Crociani in Montepulciano reopens to visitors from May 3, 2021

The Crociani Civic and Archaeological Museum and Picture Gallery in Montepulciano, one of the most interesting and treasured museums of the area, reopens to visitors as from 3rd May 2021, non-stop from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm. Closed on Tuesdays. For the time being, open Saturdays and Sundays by prior booking only.

Arranged on 4 floors, it is divided into 5 sections: the archaeological section, the “poliziana” [Montepulciano] section, the display of Della Robbia terracotta works, the Picture Gallery and the “Studiolo” [small study]. There are many beautiful pieces on display, among which are “Sant’Agnese Segni, con in mano il modello della città di Montepulciano” [Saint Agnese Segni, with the model of the town of Montepulciano in her hands], attributed with certainty to Domenico Beccafumi, and “Ritratto di gentiluomo” [Portrait of a Gentleman] by Caravaggio. The picture gallery also houses the “Sacra Famiglia con San Giovannino” [Holy Family with young Saint John] by Sodoma, several Della Robbia terracottas, which are truly stirring, and the “Madonna col bambino” [Virgin and Child] by Signorelli.
